Republican Fission

   I am surprised and saddened that the Republican party has not split.
   Bushites characterized by - favoring bigger, more powerful government, fiscal irresponsibility, and telling everyone what they should believe - move to one side.
   Libertarian, the-best-government-is-the-smallest-government, balanced budget loving conservatives - to the other side.
   Why has that not happened?
   Scientific answer to the question - a dark force exists in the political universe. We can use this dark force to measure the power of a political party (although this suffers from problems of a nominal fallacy, I will continue with it because it is useful).
   The dark force is at work when a political party with repulsive moieties remains together.

Investigations are currently underway on a few promising hypotheses

the force of patronage benefits is stronger than the dark force
political animals would rather win than be right
citizens (foils of political animals) are more easily bamboozled with existing shibboleths than new ones. The proposed measurement is the statistical frequency of naive voters to hold unrecognized, incompatible
political notions. The naive voter is defined to be a voter who receives all his information in sound bites and does all his analysis in the breaks between TV, sex, family obligations, and eating.
